A Hernia

Abdominal / Groin Hernia: is simply a protrusion of a bowel through the abdominal wall

It may present at early cases as Pain , later on a swelling and if left untreated it may complicate and result in bowel death which can be life threatening if a surgery is not performed to remove the dead bowel and repair the hernias.

Commonest sites for Hernia are the Groin and the Umbilical area but Incisional hernia occurs at any scar of previous surgery

Hernia can be repaired through an open surgery or a keyhole surgery. This depends on various factors and the patient needs to be assessed clinically to make the correct decision.
