If you have one of the following:

  • Any of those SYMPTOMS, or
  • Age 55 or more
  • Any of your First or Second degree relatives had Colonic or Gastric Cancer or
  • if you were advised to have a colonoscopy by your GP
  • Non of the above but you are concerned for your bowel health

You will need a Colonoscopy

NHS Waiting Time:

It is unfortunate that the Referral and waiting time at the NHS for first consultation is 30 Weeks and to have this procedure is exceeding a year to 18 Months if you are not referred on the 2 weeks cancer pathway. There is too much pressure on NHS due to the impact of Covid, the volume of referral and the challenges within the resources at thatstage.

While waiting long can have a negative impact on your condition and may make your undiagnosed disease worse, we do encourage you to discuss further with your GP if you feel the need to.

You can also plan your colonoscopy yourself and we will be happy to assist you with planning this to be completed within a very short time of approaching
us.

How this is planned:

  • You can call 01473 279123 the Nuffield Booking office and book yourself into my Wednesday PM clinics, You can also email them @ ipswichnuffield.referrals@nhs.net If you are told the clinic is fully booked please contact my Secretary
  • My secretary will be able to open a new slot for you to comply with our waiting time promise.
  • You will be given a clinic appointment to discuss your symptoms, the procedure and provide you with the guidance and instruction regarding your bowel preparation prior to your test.
  • Further to your clinic appointment, you will be booked your procedure and be given an exact date for your procedure
  • I will perform your Colonoscopy myself and will advise you on the day if any further action is required.
  • Your Colonoscopy is both for diagnostic and Therapeutic procedures within certain criterias. If large polyps or tumours are identified this may need further procedures and I will guide you through the way forward.
  • Your colonoscopy will be performed at the Community Endoscopy Unit at Ravenswood. The Unit has the best and the most up-to-date endoscopy equipments and the highest trained endoscopy staff as this is their day to day practice with highest volume of patients scoped.
